Meet The Team
tn_net_wood.jpg

The Team Northumbria Media Team was established in 2007 to promote the successes and achievements of student athletes and university teams.

Meeting every week, a group of like-minded students discuss stories, look at media style and aim to enhance the content of teamnorthumbria.com and the Nu:Life magazine.

Team leader, and Team Northumbria Media Manager, Simon Rushworth has been a senior reporter for 13 years. His work has been published across the world in newspapers as diverse as The Sydney Morning Herald, The Daily Express and The Daily Sport.

A former Chief Sports Writer and Assistant Sports Editor on Newcastle's Journal newspaper, Simon started his career as a news reporter on the Evening Chronicle. Today he covers basketball for The Times and the Daily Star, reports on rock and metal music for The Journal and lectures in Sports Journalism at Northumbria University.

Simon is joined by TN.COM Chief Reporter Andy Spoors, a third-year Journalism student and BUCS Media Intern Ashlie Tridgell, a third-year marketing student. Completing the current team are hoops expert Ollie Lincoln, king of the roads Tom Williams and Bradford bull Nimesh Patel.

Northumbria graduates Mark Kelly and Laura Gutfreund-Walmsley continue to offer their experience and expertise to the team and number of individuals contribute throughout the year.

The Team Northumbria Media Team is recruiting now for the 2010/2011 seasons so please contact Simon Rushworth at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it for more details.
