To become renowned for its innovation and success in its regional, national and international contribution, through an extensive network of enterprising partnerships and programmes.


Mission
To provide high quality professional support and services in sport, recreation and active lifestyle to prospective students, students, staff and the wider community.


Aims
To deliver to students, staff and the community a wide ranging programme of exercise and healthy lifestyle opportunities plus informal active recreation and sports.

To encourage and support students into organised sports participation, through Building an Active Community programme, Campus Sport, Sports Clubs and BUCS competitions.

To promote and facilitate effective student involvement in the running of sport at Northumbria, thereby encouraging their personal and professional development.

To support individual and team development towards excellence through the recognition of student potential and the achievement of sporting success.

To contribute as a partner in the delivery of a sport development programme through a community sport network of County Sports Partnerships, Government agencies, National Governing Bodies and local authorities.

To advance Northumbria University's position as a leading regional, UK and international University through participation in successful projects.

To manage and operate University sports facilities, encouraging optimum use and benefit whilst striving for an excellent standard of service delivery.

To plan new and improved sports facilities, working with relevant partners, at City Campus and Bullocksteads.

To achieve, through investment, a highly motivated team of full and part-time staff who are happy and proud to deliver Team Northumbria's ambitions, resulting in improved productivity.

To continuously enhance staff development and performance through appropriate support, the provision of training opportunities, effective internal monitoring and quality control of service provision.

To support the Team Northumbria Foundation as a strategic partner in the development of sporting opportunities.
